Using the eAIP

Layout

The eAIP lay-out is compliant to EUROCONTROL’s eAIP specification 2.0.

Navigate the eAIP by using the table of contents in the left frame. Click the section titles to move to the selected section and reveal its subsections.

The left hand side of the browser window contains:

Note: the AIP, AMDT and Search tab have additional tabs showing the available AIP amendments. Hovering with the mouse pointer over a tab shows the AIRAC Effective date of the AIP amendment.

The right hand side of the browser window will display the eAIP content.

AIP tab

Displays the eAIP table of contents. Clicking on a + or a - sign expands/collapses the eAIP table of contents. Clicking on a title opens the relevant part in the content frame of the eAIP window.

Amendment mark-up information in the eAIP content is not shown by default. To see what has changed, tick the "Show Amendments" checkbox in the top-right corner of the right frame to make the changes visible. Please note that loading these changes may take some time.

Changes in the eAIP are marked as follows:

Note that it is of course possible that there is no change in the section your are reading, even if the "Show Amendments" box is ticked.

AMDT tab

The AMDT tab in the left frame contains a summary of changes with a detailed list of all changes in the eAIP, ordered by section and subsection. Click a triangular arrow next to a section to see the corresponding change highlighted in the right hand side frame.

SUPs tab

The SUP tab lists relevant AIP supplements for this eAIP publication date. Each supplement is shown with:

AICs tab

The AIC tab lists relevant circulars for this eAIP publication date. Each circular is shown with:

The listed AICs may be coloured:

Not coloured AICs indicate an administrative-related subject.

The search tab allows searching inside the eAIP. Enter one or more search terms in the "Search for" field and click the "Start" button. The search result will be displayed below the search string. The next step is to click a search result and use the web browser’s page search facility.

Entering more than one word will show results that contain any of the specified words. If a plus sign (+) is written before a word this search term must be part of the result. If a minus sign (-) is written before a word this search term must not be part of the result. The search function will do a substring search. That means that search terms will also match part of a word contained in the text.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between HTML and PDF?

HTML is optimised to be viewed on screen. Printing the HTML version of the eAIP is not recommended. Always print the PDF version of a page. This is the only official paper version.

PDF is specifically for printing and ensures that the printed pages correlate fully with the paper AIP. It is possible to indicate in the printing menu of Acrobat Reader which pages must be printed.

How do I use the layered content level in ENR 6-3.1 and ENR 6-3.2?

You can view, navigate, and print layered content in the PDFs in Acrobat Reader.

  1. Open the pdf of the chart.
  2. Choose View > Show/Hide> Navigation Panes > Layers.
  3. To hide a layer, click the eye icon. To show a hidden layer, click the empty box. A layer is visible when the eye icon is present, and hidden when the eye icon is absent.

Why do I see strange characters in the eAIP?

You may be viewing the eAIP with the wrong character set. Set the correct encoding as follows:
